Majyk Equipe hinds getting broken in at the water complex, WoofWear fronts. The WW held a ton of water after this, the ME held none. |
Unfortunately, the matching fronts are going to be too tall for Connor. I emailed the company asking if they were planning to make smalls, or if I could pay to have small fronts custom made, and received this in return:
Jenifer,Unfortunately we do not make small XC boots. The trend is towards taller horses. My best regards, Michael
My response back:
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the reply. It's disappointing, since I believe the ME XC boots are the best on the market as far as protection and heat dissipation after studying the various options. Given that there is a newly added adult/pony pair award at the American Eventing Championships, as well as all the younger juniors on ponies and the increasing popularity of shorter horses as mounts for adult re-riders, I hope you reconsider at some point in the future. I'll continue with a different brand for the fronts in the meantime. Thanks!Jen
And then an immediate, and very courteous response:
I wish we had better news! Nothing is impossible. With enough demand in the market we would have to make them eventually.
Best regards, Michael
Great customer service, disappointing answer. Stupid free-market capitalism. Dear Majyk Equipe: Love your product, disagree with your market assessment! Love, CobJockey.
(If you are a pony or honey eventer who would like to help me create "enough demand in the market", please use the Contact Us form on their website to let them know you'd purchase a pair if they made them!)
Bummer the fronts don't fit. I get this problem in opposite all the time. I'm certain there are plenty of other horses as big and bigger than mine but I still haven't been able to buy a 60" girth like I want. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI am 60"! You are wrapping ME around your horse every time you saddle up. WOW!
DeleteBahaha!
Deleteodd that they dont think there is enough demand for smalls! They do look nice.
ReplyDeleteI thought so too. They must just want to cater to higher-level riders??
Deletenice boots, and thanks for the review. my mare recently started interfering in her hind end (exacerbated by her hooves being all chipped from the dry weather and fly stomping) so boots are a priority right now. sorry they don't have your size tho!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hate the fly-stomping and dry stuff. Connor has a toe crack from that two years ago that hasn't yet grown out. Ugh!
DeleteI have this problem with Paddy, only it's worse! I need Warmblood sized boots to fit around his cannon, but pony sized for height.
ReplyDeleteDear Haffie, WHYYYYY must you be so hard to fit!?!?
I've heard the N.E.W boots are good for that problem. Have you tried them?
DeleteWow what a really short sighted answer to their product - they are missing out on an entire market.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought! I could understand this from a company making boots for the hunters, but eventing?
DeleteI think Prisoner has more than enough talent to invest in nice boots and he will probably need smalls, my average sized fronts all run a little big on him...I will look at their sizes and if it looks like he wouldn't fit in what they make I will send an email. Lets get smalls made! I am a huge supporter of smaller horses and we need companies to support them as well!
